The Dallas Cowboys had a disappointing season yet again as they failed to make it to the NFC Championship Game and Super Bowl.

Despite this, the team has already made significant changes to their coaching staff,

with the biggest change being the departure of offensive coordinator Kellen Moore.

Moore quickly found a new role with the Los Angeles Chargers as their new offensive coordinator.

With Moore now part of the Chargers, rumors have circulated that he may try to lure a former Cowboys player to the team during free agency.

One player that may fit the bill is tight end Dalton Schultz, who played under Moore in Dallas.

Schultz could be an excellent addition to the Chargers' roster, as he has proven to be a reliable target downfield and could be utilized as a seam stretcher in Moore's system.

However, the potential acquisition of Schultz will depend on the Chargers' ability to offer him an attractive contract,

given their current financial situation. As of this writing, the team is over the salary cap threshold by almost $20 million, according to Spotrac.

Schultz's market value is currently listed at $15.1 million per year, with a proposed four-year, $60.59 million contract.

This may be a steep price for the Chargers to pay, but reuniting Schultz with Moore could prove to be a solid move,

especially for young quarterback Justin Herbert, who could benefit from a reliable security blanket in the passing game.

Schultz was drafted by the Cowboys in the fourth round of the 2018 NFL Draft

and has developed into a dependable option in their passing offense over the years.

After being tagged as the team's franchise player last offseason, Schultz earned $10.9 million for the 2022 season.
