At the start of the 2023 season, Wallace was confident but was involved in an early incident at the season opener at Daytona.

He battled back and finished 20th but encountered mechanical problems and finished 30th at Fontana.

However, he rebounded at Las Vegas with a fourth-place finish and finished 14th at Phoenix.

Since then, the driver has struggled to finish in the top 30 at Atlanta and finished 37th at COTA.

After the race in Texas, Wallace suggested he needed to be replaced. With rain canceling practice and qualifying,

Wallace started 28th at Richmond, a track where he has struggled in the past.Despite this, the No. 23 car made its way forward from the start .

However, a member of the No. 23 team caused a safety violation when they reached over the wall to grab a tire but fell onto pit road.

This caused NASCAR to call a safety violation, and Wallace had to serve a pass-through penalty, causing all momentum to come to a halt.

Michael Jordan was visibly frustrated by the incident, and while the season has not gone according to plan, Wallace can look back at last year’s results and find hope.
